About Joseph Yeo
Hi. My name is Joseph Yeo. I was born in Singapore on 20 April, 19#@, which makes me…er…%$ years old.
I was a primary school teacher in Singapore (for 2.5 years) before I left for the University of Adelaide to study Linguistics. After spending two years in Adelaide, I decided it was time to move on; so I packed up and came to Sydney, and applied to do Master of Letters in Linguistics in the University of Sydney, which I completed at the end of 1997.
For the next three years, I taught in Singapore and Shanghai, and worked in West and East Timor with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
In Dec 2000, I came back to Sydney; met my partner, Paul, and have called Australia home since.
In the last 7-8 years, I dabbled in desktop publishing and graphic design, managed a translation agency, travelled around Australia for 4 months, lived in Darwin for 2.5 years, worked as a captioner on ABC News, and here I am…back in Sydney.
That’s, in brief, about my past and present. As for the future, you’ll be the witness.
